TABOR CITY, N.C. | Margaret Abigail Crawford Soles, 96, of Tabor City, N.C., died Wednesday, May 13, 2009 at her home.
Mrs. Soles was born in Chadbourn, North Carolina. June 1, 1912 to Elmer Raymond Crawford and Ruth McLelland Crawford.
In addition to being a homemaker, Mrs. Soles assisted her husband, the late D.W. Soles, in the C.C. Soles and Sons business in Tabor City, N.C., and was also a registered nurse. Mrs. Soles stayed out of nursing for 35 years before returning to the nursing profession at the first rest home in Whiteville, N.C. During her career she also served 10 years as supervisor for the Loris Extended Care Facility. Mrs. Soles retired at the age of 79.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Dewey Wallace Soles; a daughter, Dana Wallace Soles Clontz; and a brother, Elmer Raymond Crawford Jr.
She is survived by a daughter, Margaret Ann Soles Dameron, and husband, Richard; son-in-law, Wallace L. Clontz Sr.; grandsons, Wallace L. ''Buddy'' Clontz Jr. and wife, Tricia, Stephen N. Clontz, Charles Edward Clontz II and wife, Sue, Dr. Jason Richard Dameron and wife, Marla, Ethan Frank Dameron and wife, Jenny; a granddaughter, Ann Dameron MacDonald and husband, Jason; nine great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Funeral services will be held 3 p.m. Sunday, May 17, 2009 in the Tabor City Baptist Church. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at the Myrtle Green Cemetery of Tabor City, N.C.
