Charlie Weston Forbes, 86, of the 700 block of Sandy Hook Road, died Aug. 25, 2000, at Albemarle Hospital. Born in Riddle, N.C.
Charlie was one of nine children of the late Simeon and Meddie Riggs Forbes and the husband of Loraine Pierce Forbes of the residence. The couple were married on 25 Oct 1937 in the Shiloh Court House.
Charlie was a retired farmer, a member of Christ Sanctified Holiness Church and served in a CC Camp during World War II.
Besides his wife, Mr. Forbes is survived by two sons, William Joseph Forbes of Riddle and Carlton Weston Forbes and his wife, Linda, of Elizabeth City, N.C.; two sisters, Alma Brinkley of Riddle and Nannie Jones of Barco, N.C.; a brother, Nathan Forbes of Riddle; and four grandchildren, Marc Allen Forbes, Eric Scott Forbes, Joey Shane Russell and Jeremy William Forbes. He was predeceased by 13 siblings.
Burial will be in the family cemetery at Riddle.
