Joseph R. Lucas

Aberdeen - Joseph Rolando Lucas, 88, of Rt. 1, Aberdeen, died at his home Friday morning.

A native of Randolph County, he became a prominent tobacco farmer and was a skilled hunter.

Survivors in addition to his wife Mrs. Mary Loretta Graves Lucas, include six daughters, Mrs. Colon Sides of Rt. 1, Aberdeen, Mrs. H. L. Thompson of Siler City, Mrs. Dossie Rose of route 5, Asheboro, Mrs. Lee A. Moss, Mrs. Noah Brown, Mrs. Charlie Hunnycutt and Mrs. Harold Lowder, all of Rt. 1, Aberdeen; four sons, Howard and Emery Lucas of Rt. 1, Aberdeen, Foster Lucas of Sanford and Floyd Lucas of Fountain; a sister Mrs. Jonah H. Cole of Rt. 1, Aberdeen; a brother, W. S. Lucas, Sr. of Rt. 2 Lillington; 26 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.

Graveside rites were to be held at 2 p.m. today at Ashley Heights Cemetery by Rev. John Brown and Rev. Harvey White.
