LUIGI FRANK ABBATE, 45 years old of Salem, WI passed away Thursday Dec. 3, 2009 at St. Luke Medical Center, Milwaukee, WI after an extended illness. He was born June 6, 1964 in Chicago, IL the son of Tony and Paula (Buccelli) Abbate. He came to the area in 1978 living in Antioch, IL. He served in the U. S. Army as an intelligence analyst and attended St. Peter Church in Antioch and St. Alphonsus Church in New Munster, WI. He worked as an environmental protection specialist for the Great Lakes Naval Base in North Chicago, IL. His hobbies included fishing, hunting, sports and cooking.
Survivors included his four daughters, Nicole Abbate of Marinette, WI, Christina Abbate, Amanda Abbate and Paula Abbate all of Salem, WI, his grandchildren, Mason, Kyle, Gabriel and Jacob, his parents Tony and Deirdre Abbate of Antioch, two brothers, Tony (Erika) Abbate of Spring Grove, IL and John (Dawn) Abbate of Silver Lake, WI and two sisters, Paula (Terry) Aide of Pleasant Prairie, WI and Josephine Abbate of Antioch. He was preceded in death by his mother Paula Abbate.

Funeral Services with Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM Wednesday December 9, 2009 at St. Peter Church 557 Lake St. Antioch, IL. Burial with Military Honors will follow at Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Union Grove, WI. Visitation will be from 4 until 8PM Tuesday Dec. 8, 2009 at the STRANG FUNERAL HOME OF ANTIOCH, 1055 Main St. (Rte 83). Info 800-622-4441. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to a family memorial.
