The oldest of five boys of Richard H & Millie (Ryan) Phibbs; family came to USA (Brooklyn, NY) in early 1890s; mother died 1895; father left boys here and returned to England. Richard (sometimes called Patrick) joined the US Navy at age 16. He married twice and worked as a machinist. He lived at Morgan (Sayreville), NJ about 35 years before his death.
