Helen (Cady) Estes, 75, of Route 9, the retired Windsor postmaster, died at Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield.

She and her husband of 55 years, W. Henry Estes, operated the Estes General Store for many years, and she served as postmaster for 34 years. She retired in 1973.

Born in Windsor, she attended local schools and was graduated from the former Dalton High School and the Bay Path Institute in Longmeadow.

She was a member of the Windsor Congregational Church, and was the organist for many years. She also held many offices in the Hilltop Grange, and was a member of the Ladies Aid.

Besides her husband, she leaves three sons, Richard H. of North Reading, Clifford D. of York, Maine, and Kenneth C. of Windsor, the current store operator; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

The funeral was in the church, with burial in Windsor Hill Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the church or the Windsor Volunteer Ambulance Fund, in care of the funeral home.
