The funeral for Arnold J. Kvarness, 83, DeLamere, was Saturday, May 20, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, rural DeLamere, with the Rev. Arthur Larson officiating. Burial was at Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery.

Arnold J. Kvarness, son of Carl and Josephine (Johnson) Kvarness, was born October 20, 1916, in Herman Township, near DeLamere, where he grew up and attended country school. After his schooling he began farming with his family.

He was united in marriage to Celeste Martinson on June 24, 1945 at Milnor. They made their home in the DeLamere area, where they farmed. The couple had four daughters: Ardyce, Jeannine, Marie, and Laurie.
Arnold was a sub-mail carrier in the McLeod-DeLamere area and also worked for the ASCS office measuring grain bins. He was a member of DeLamere Lutheran Church and served on the church council. He was presently a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church. He served on the Hall Township Board and also served as a director on the Milnor Fire Department.

He was well known for his sense of humor and playing practical jokes on people. He loved to fish, hunt, play pool, bowl, and dance to old time music. But most of all, he enjoyed and loved to spend time with his grandchildren and play games with them.

He died Tuesday, May 16, 2000, at St. Francis Medical Center, Breckenridge, MN.
