Dora Maye Cox, daughter of Charles Franklin and Almyra (Mcintosh) Ragan, was born May 23, 1902 near Mercer, Missouri, an died March 15, 2003, at the Wayne County Hospital in Cordon, Iowa, at the age of 100 years.


Dora attended the White Oak country school and graduated from the eighth grade from the Garland country school. She and Andrew farmed all their married lives in Mercer County, Missouri. After Andrew's death, Dora continued to run the farm until 1969 when she moved to Mercer.


Her favorite pastimes were gardening and quilting. Dora was a lifelong member of the Mercer Assembly of God church.


Dora was married in 1920 to William Andrew Cox, who preceded her in death on March 29, 1952. She was also preceded in death by her parents; her son, Clinton Dale Cox; two brothers, Charlie and Pearl Ragan; two sisters,


Ruby Cox and Florence Vaughn; and by a great-great-granddaughter. She is survived by her daughter, Edna Mae Duffield (and son-in-law, Dale) of Lineville, Iowa; by eight grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren, and 11 great-great-grandchildren.


Funeral services were held on Tuesday, March 18, 2003, at the Greenlee-Middleton Funeral Chapel of Lineville, Iowa, with Reverend Robert Markum officiating.


Burial was in the Girdner Cemetery, north of Mercer, MO.
