He was born Aug. 15, 1953, in Marion County. His mother was Virginia (McGill) Beltz. He is married to Henrietta (Stout) Beltz of Harrisburg
He was a coal miner for 23 years, also a carpenter and an outboard motor mechanic.
He was a charter member of the Southern Illinois Hawg Hunters Bass Club and president of the Liberty-Ledford Water District.
He is survived by his wife, Henrietta; a sister-in-law, Linda Beltz of Galatia; and cousin, David Dennison of Harrisburg.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Jim Beltz; and his mother.
Services will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 6, 2009, at the Sloan Funeral Home in Galatia with visitation from noon to the funeral hour. Dr. Harrison Peyton will officiate with burial at the Cottage Grove Cemetery.
