Louis J. Bauer, 83, of 62 N. Locust St., died at Franklin Farms, Monday afternoon at 4 p.m. He had been in failing health since Thanksgiving and was admitted to Franklin Farms in December. His condition was critical the entire time. He was born in Red Bank, Clarion County, son of the late Frederick and Mary Bauer. He made his home at Fairmount, Penna., and following his marriage moved to Aetna. He came to Waynesboro in 1943.
Bauer reportedly was a member of the famous John Philip Sousa's band and is said to have served in the US Army. A carpenter by trade, Bauer was last employed by the W. R. Oyer Inc., Waynesboro. He is survived by five children, Jerome, Waynesboro; Joseph J., Elizabeth; Mrs. Hazel Rupert, Braddock Hills; Mrs. Laura Leonard, Braddock, and Mrs. Jessie Winters, Texas. Five grandchildren and these brothers and sisters, Andrew C. Bauer, Hawthorne; Charles Bauer and Crist Bauer, Clarion County; Mrs. Sophie Williams, Vandergrift; Miss Lizzie Bauer, Ringgold, Penna., also survive.

The funeral will be held Thursday at 3:30 p.m. from the Grove Funeral Home conducted by the Rev. George Weaver. Interment will be made in Green Hill Cemetery. Friends may call Wednesday from 7 until 9 p.m. at he funeral home.
