Annie "Vula" Hale Jones, 89, of Kingsport, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, February 28, 2009, at Brookhaven Manor in Kingsport.

She was born in Dickenson County, VA and lived in Kingsport since she was 9 year old. She worked as a young girl for her sister in Owens Beauty Shop, one of the first shops in Kingsport. In her youth she attended the Salvation Army Church and later attended the Church of the Lord Jesus Christ on West View Park, for a number of years. She has now been a member of Apostolic Lighthouse for over 50 years.

"Vula" is preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Jones; son, John Thomas Jones; her parents, William D. and Mary Dingus Hale; 4 sisters, Trina Owens, Nannie Hale, Myra McCoy and Nell Collins; four brothers, Dennis Hale, Edwin Hale, Erwin Hale and Victor Hale and a great grandson, Preston McMillan.

Survivors include her three daughters, Anna Ruth Boggs and husband John of Kingsport, Romelda McMillan of Kingsport and Rose Sutherland and husband Charles of Blountville; son, E. Allen Jones and wife Sue of Hiltons, Va.; daughter-in-law, Shirley Jones of Kingsport; sixteen grandchildren, thirty great grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 5 pm to 7 pm on Monday, March 2, 2009 at the Apostolic Lighthouse Church, 145 Shipp Springs Road, Kingsport. Funeral services will be at 7 pm in the church chapel with Pastor David Peters, officiating. Music will be provided by Amber Kegley, Nathan Trent and the Ladies Trio.

Graveside services will be at 11 am on Tuesday, March 3, 2009 at Walnut Chapel Church Cemetery in Gate City, Va. Pallbearers will be her grandsons. Honorary pallbearers will be Mary Gray and Anna Harr.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Apostolic Lighthouse Church School, 145 Shipp Springs Road, Kingsport, TN.
