PERRYVILLE, Mo. -- Martha Anna Schlichting, 87, formerly of Wittenberg, Mo., died Sunday, June 23, 2002, at Perry County Nursing Home.

She was born June 5, 1915, in St. Louis County, Mo., the daughter of Alfred and Katherine Garlich Werner. On Nov. 26, 1949, she married Otto J. Schlichting.

She was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Altenburg, Mo., and was an honorary member of the L.W.M.L. and a former member of the Golden Age Club.

She is survived by her husband; two daughters, Doris Erlacker of Perryville and Joann Mirly of New Wells, Mo.; a brother, Walter Werner of Millstadt, Mo.; a sister, Esther Guebert of Red Bud, Ill.; and five grandchildren.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and from 6:30 to 8:30 a.m. Thursday at Young & Sons East Perry Chapel in Altenburg.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Altenburg, with the Rev. Ronal Paseur officiating. Burial will follow in St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery in Wittenberg.
