ALTEMUS – Gerald N., 88, Davidsville, died Jan. 4, 2010, at LaurelWood Care Center. Born Oct. 7, 1921, in Johnstown, son of Nelson and Odessa (Grow) Altemus. Predeceased by wife, Rosealene D. (Roberts) Altemus, June 20, 2009; and brothers: Joel, Dorsey and Warren. Survived by children: Sharon Wurth, married to Frank, Coon Ridge; Terry Altemus, married to Ginny (Miller), Davidsville; and Bonnie Gelles, married to Andrew, Johnstown; grandchildren: Scott Taylor, and fiancee, Jeanette Jarvis; Christopher Taylor; Joseph Wurth; Sarah Lloyd, married to Adam; Jonathan Altemus; Sarah Moffett, married to Gregg; Anna Oshall, married to Brandon; Samantha Gelles, and fiance, Travis Hutzell; and Nicole Gelles. He was the last member of his family and was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. Retired chemist for Pepsi, McAllister 7-Up, Penn Traffic, Hess's and Hart's Sporting Goods. Member of Homestead Avenue United Methodist Church and Dale mixed duck pin bowling league. Hindman Funeral Home. Inurnment with military rites, Forest Lawn Cemetery.
