Susan T. Hinkle, daughter of the late Charles T. Hinkle and Susan B. Hinkle, died peacefully at her Buknore Farm home on December 9, 2009. She was born in Kansas City, Missouri, on December 23, 1914. Her family moved to Paris when she was four years of age. After graduating from Paris High School and attending Transylvania University, she studied acting in New York City and Hollywood. Following her studies, she resided at Buknore for her lifetime and served 56 years as corporate secretary and board member for Hinkle Contracting Corporation. An active patron of the arts, historical preservation and other community affairs, she supported numerous initiatives and charities. In 1992, she received the Ida Lee Willis Excellence in Preservation for Cultural Resources Award given by the Kentucky Heritage Council. In 2006, she received the Mary Van Meter Award for Historic Preservation given by Historic Paris-Bourbon County. She was a member of First Christian Church of Paris and then Saint Peters Episcopal Church, where she served as lay reader and choir member.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by: a brother, Buckner Hinkle; and a sister, Mary Hinkle Hoffman. She is survived by: two sisters, Anne Hinkle Baldwin and Dr. Nancy Hinkle Holland; a sister-in-law, Sally Spears Hinkle; a brother-in-law, Dr. Phillip Holland; seven adoring nephews and nieces, Boone B. Baldwin (Becky), Anne Thomas Baldwin, Buckner Hinkle, Jr. (Anne), Henry L. Hinkle (Barbara), Thomas S. Hinkle (Lisa), J. Miller Hoffman (Debbie) and Susan Hoffman Combs (Sayre); and her great-nephews and great-nieces, all of whom looked to "Aunt Susie" as a model of style, wit, wisdom and fun. Also predeceasing and surviving are her canine friends, too numerous to mention but all beneficiaries of her never-failing love. The family extends its heartfelt gratitude to Ruth Bartlett, Christy Bartlett, Lucy Davenport and Kathy Setters for the care and affection given to Susie in her twilight.

Visitation will be at Saint Peter's Episcopal Church, in Paris, Kentucky, on December 11 from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. Funeral services will be at Saint Peter's on December 12 at 10:00 a.m., followed by burial at Paris Cemetery. The family suggests contributions to The Hopewell Museum, PAWS Animal Shelter or Saint Peter's Episcopal Church, in lieu of flowers.
