Daniel Lysons, an important and remarkable antiquary and topographer. Late in the 18th Century, he compiled the remarkable 'The Environs of London, being an Historical Account of the Towns, Villages and Hamlets within twelve miles of that Capital'. He became curate in Putney, London, and later was personal chaplain to Horace Walpole at Twickenham. I owe a considerable personal debt to Daniel Lysons, for guiding us through part of our history, and do his memorial out of respect and warmth.
