Bill was the youngest of six siblings. He married three times. The first wife being Alta French. His second wife Mildred May Johnson and he married September 20, 1918. And he went on to marry again, Pauline Hazel Smith in October 1939.

Alta French is believed to have no children.
Mildred May Johnson and Bill had one child, Marie Eileen Englis.
Pauline Hazel Smith had three children with Bill.
1. Lynn Marie Ackerman (birth name Lana Lee Englis)
2. Thomas Orr (birth name Robert Dale Englis).
3. Mary Ann Pazderka (birth name Linda Lou Englis).

In about 1946 while Bill was hospitalized at Alton State Hospital for alcoholism, Pauline (his third wife) lost custody of their three children. DFS removed the children who were put up for adoption through Catholic Charities in Edgemont Illinois, Now East St Louis.

The three children were adopted by seperate famiy's and grew up not knowing of each other. Lynn (the oldest) is the only child with vague recollection of her little brother and bars on a window at the orphange. Lynn was approximately three or four when the kids were removed from Pauline's care.

In 1947- Bill was diagnosed with TB.
In 1949- Bill divorced Pauline Hazel Smith.
In 1968- Bill died at Greenlawn Nursing Home in Jerseyville Illinois.
