Funeral services were conducted by Rev. John Lowe from the Methodist church, last Tuesday afternoon for Henry S. Austin, and the remains were laid to rest beside those of his wife in Birchwood cemetery. The pall bearers were J. D. Boyle, L. A. Holler, W. P. Gottry, Herman Borchers, Chas. Beecbel and W. F. Richards. The deceased was a G. A. R. veteran and a member of the local post. Members of the local post attended the funeral and paid the last sad honors to their departed comrade.

Henry Austin was born June 24, 1843 in New York and was 91 years, 6 months and 9 days of age. He was a former resident of Pine City for many years and his wife preceded him in death here Aug. 3, 1913. He passed away in the Old Soldiers Home in Minneapolis January 3rd.

He is survived by three sons, James and Amos being here for the funeral. A son in New York was unable to come.
