Mrs. Lulu B. Bishop, 93, widow of U. Grant Bishop, a former resident of Waynesboro, died suddenly at 5 p.m. Thursday at the Eva M. Pape Convalescent Home, Gettysburg, where she had been a guest for the past two years.
Mrs. Bishop was born at Upper Strasburg, Franklin County, February 10, 1869, a daughter of the late David and Maria Forney Zullinger.
When she was 14 years old her parents moved to Zullinger, then known as Park Hill. Her father operated a store and the post office and at that time the community became known as Zullinger. She served as assistant post-mistress to her father.
In 1890 she and Mr. Bishop were married and lived for a time in Cumberland County. They later came to Waynesboro when he was employed by Frick Company.
The family moved to Baltimore and following the death of her husband, Mrs. Bishop returned to Waynesboro where she lived until 1954.
She is survived by three sons, Clair W. Bishop, Williamsport, Pa.; Max F. Bishop and Mark Z. Bishop, both of Baltimore; five grandchildren, six great grandchilcren and one sister, Mrs. Ida Smith, Waynesboro.
Funeral services will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. from the Grove Funeral Home. Burial will be in Green Hill Cemetery, Waynesboro, PA.
