Funeral
services for William Scott Westbrook, 68, resident of Nueces County for approximately 40 years, who died at 11 oclock yesterday morning at his home in the Riverside Community near Robstown, were scheduled for 2:30 oclock this afternoon at the David T. Peel Funeral Chapel. The Rev. Val Sherman, pastor of the Robstown Methodist Church, was to conduct the service, assisted by the Rev. H. P. South. Westbrook is survived by his wife; two sons, Odis and George T. Westbrook, both of Corpus Christi; a daughter, Mrs. Stella Crozier of Corpus Christi; a brother, Odis Westbrook of Cedar Bayou, Texas; two sisters, Mrs. Minnie Dowell of Houston and Mrs. Lillian Shepherd of Cedar Bayou; nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He was a member of the First Methodist Church at Robstown and had served as steward 20 years. At one time he was superintendent of the Sunday School at Sunshine, serving in this capacity for many years. Burial was to be in Rose Hill Cemetery under direction of the David T. Peel Funeral Home. Pallbearers were to include Ladimir Herold, R. L. Turner, Arnold Howell, Manuel Wilson, Albert Ware and W. M. Bevly. [The Corpus Christi Times, Monday, Nov. 13, 1939, page 2]
