A concrete culvert had been completed the day previous and he was engaged in removing the wooden "form" from the inside when a cave-in from a high bank overhanging the culvert struck it and crushed the structure, catching him underneath. Willing hands immediately removed him from the debris and medical help summoned but he lived only a few minutes after being taken out.
Mr. Boyd and his family, a wife and little ten-year old boy, had only lived here a few months but previous to coming here he had lived for a number of years near Parnell and was well-known here as a representative citizen and a good man.
Mr. Boyd was a member of both the Masons and Woodmen and was buried with honors by these orders.
W. J. Boyd, father; E. C. Boyd, brother and W. P. Smith, brother-in-law, all of Lott, Texas were present at the funeral.
