Roy Estell Roope, 76, of 412 Giles Ave.. Dublin, died Tuesday morning in the Radford Community Hospital.

Born Feb. 20, 1908 in Salem, he was the son of the late John Campbell Roope and Annie Mae Thompson Roope.

He attended the Dublin Church of God and was a retired employee of the Radford Army Ammunition Plant.

Surviving are his wife, Celia Victoria Harmon Roope, Dublin; two daughters, Mrs. Mack (Helen) Belcher, Blacksburg, and Carolyn Jane Roope, Dublin; three sons, Steve Mac Roope, Roy Hurley Roope and Randall Lee Roope, all of Dublin; one brother, Carl Roope, Aberdeen, Md.; three half brothers, Fred Roope and Ralph Roope, both of Pulaski, and Emory Roope, Wytheville; four grandchildren; and five greatgrandchildren.

The funeral will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at the Dublin Church of God with the Rev John C. Briggs officiating.

Burial will follow in Highland Memory Gardens, Dublin.

Visiting will be this .afternoon with the family receiving friends from 7 to 9 p.m. tonight at the Bower Funeral Home, Dublin. The body will be taken to the church at 9 a.m. Thursday where it will lie in state until time of service. Bower Funeral Home, Dublin, is handling the arrangements.
