Douglas E. Hughes was born and raised in the community known as Hughes Chapel. He was caretaker of Hughes Chapel Cemetery and a member of the Ward 2 Cemetery Board. Accurate burial records were so important to him that he entered all burials in this site up until his death. I am one of his daughters and will continue to use his account to update records for Hughes Chapel Cemetery because I know how important it was to him. He was a Vietnam Veteran that served his country honorably. He was the father of 5 children who all love him dearly and will miss him until at last we can see him again on the other side. Many who passed on before him most definitely welcomed him with open arms because of the genealogy records he tirelessly researched and compiled during his life. He was a very kind soft spoken man who was more than willing to help others if he knew they needed it. As one of his children, I can honestly say I believed all my life there was nothing too hard or back breaking that my daddy couldn't accomplish even if it was in his own time. His memory is precious to all of us.
