Martin Ray Padilla, age 47, formerly of Belen, NM passed away in Pompano Beach, Florida on Thursday January 19, 2006. Martin was a 1976 Belen High School graduate where he was an avid football and basketball player. His love of sports continued through his years of coaching. He was a coach for his daughter's soccer and swim teams, as well as Los Lunas High School girl's soccer teams, where he touched the lives of many. He was an insurance agent in Belen for over ten years and was currently employed by Med Pro in Florida. His love for people and sense of humor made him a true salesman. Martin was a good son, father, brother, uncle. He was a friend to many and was loved by all who knew him. Martin's purpose in life and true source of happiness were his daughter, Marianne, and step-son, Jeremy. Martin was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Praxedes and Sesario Padilla; and maternal grandparents, Delfina and Henry Pena. He is survived by his wife, Debbie and step-son, Jeremy of Pompano Beach, Florida; his daughter, Marianne Padilla of Belen, his parents, Martin and Corinne Padilla of Belen, his brother, Anthony Padilla and wife, Candy of Denver, Colorado; two sisters, Angela Padilla and husband, Rod Brown and Paula Padilla of Albuquerque. He is also survived by two nieces, Kristi Reyes and Tanya Morenus of Albuquerque, and one nephew, Roberto Padilla of Boulder, Colorado; as well as many other relatives. Services will be held at Our Lady of Belen Catholic Church on Saturday January 28, 2006 beginning with a visitation at 10:00 a.m., followed by a rosary being recited at 10:30 a.m. A final Memorial Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Our Lady of Belen Catholic Cemetery.
