Letha Steven Pollard's life on this earth came to an end January 5, 2010 at age 85. She was born to Ross and Blanche Steven's in Brookings, South Dakota December 13, 1924. She lived there until her family moved to California in 1941. Anyone who knew her would agree how hard of a worker she was and how much energy she had. She started working in 1941 at age 16 at a Malt shop in Long Beach, California. That fall she met the man of her dreams, Frank Pollard and they fell in love. They were married March of 1943 in Wasco, California. Being married and having children was all she ever wanted. She had six beautiful girls. She worked as a Legal Secretary with two young children. Then got a job as a grocery clerk. She retired after 25 years with Retail Clerks Union. Her children remember her scrubbing floors, making and washing clothes, and doing dishes on her "days off". They will also tell you that she always spent quality time with them. She was an amazing mother and friend. She was very proud of her children and they made her smile. Letha always said that her grandchildren were her reward for being a parent and she loved each of them. Along with her grandchildren her great grandchildren were a joy in her life. Later in life after raising her children she moved to Saint George then Idaho where she enjoyed gardening, putting together puzzles with loved ones, making quilts for her grandchildren, and sewing, she loved to cook and was very good at it. She enjoyed singing and going to lunch with church members at Wendy's and Arctic Circle. She also loved pizza and homemade tostados. When Letha wasn't doing something in her yard or around the house she liked to watch cops, Judge Judy, America's Most Wanted, Jeopardy, and Wheel of Fortune. One of her favorite movies was Dennis the Menace. You could see the joy on her face when she watched it and would laugh so hard that she would cry. Letha attended Church of Christ in Nampa. She was very involved and enjoyed the singings and potlucks. She served others and put them first. She loved to do the Lords work and worshiped in spirit and truth. Letha was preceded in death by her parents, brothers and sisters, her son Phillip, a son in law, and many friends. She is survived by her six daughters: Beverly and Denny Bungenstock, Deanna and Hayes Holman, Nancy Burke, Susie and Dave Tietge, Teri and Craig Naset and Pamela Smith. Her brother Dick and Mickey, nieces, nephews, 18 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, and countless friends. There will be a memorial service at the Church of Christ in Nampa on Monday January 11, 2010 at 11:00a.m. If you would like to send a monetary donation in lieu of flowers to Nampa Church of Christ P.O. Box 75 Nampa, ID (83686). To share memories with the family please visit Lucille's memorial webpage online at:
