Memorial services will be held on Monday, December 29, 2008 at 3:00 PM in La Chapelle de Martin & Castille Funeral Home for J. Clyde Prejean, 91, who died on Tuesday, December 23, 2008 at his residence in Lafayette.

Survivors include his four children, René L. Prejean and his wife, Nancy, Celeste Thorson and her husband, Gary, Gordon Prejean and his wife, Jane and David Prejean and Ann B. Prejean; five grandchildren, Jillian, Alex, Charlotte, Brian and Joseph Prejean; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and their children; and one sister-in-law, Mrs. Harold "Bessie" Prejean.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John Prejean and Theresa Avant Prejean; his beloved wife, Elodie "Boots" Comeaux Prejean; his brothers, Robert "Bob" Prejean and Harold Prejean; and his sister, Helen Prejean Oliver.

Born May 15, 1917, Clyde was a native and lifelong resident of Lafayette. Clyde attended and graduated from St. John Cathedral. He began his career working at Butcher Brother's Appliances, then began a two-way radio business with his brother Harold. Clyde was the chief engineer at KPEL Radio station and spent many years at vocational and technical schools, doing what he loved the most, teaching electronics. He was involved in many civic and social organizations including Lafayette Civil Defense, Knights of Columbus, Krewe of Gabriel, and IEEE. Clyde enjoyed camping, tennis, and sailing. He was a member and past commodore of the Lake Arthur Yacht Club. In his retirement Clyde enjoyed woodworking.

The family requests that visitation be observed on Monday, December 29, 2008 from 10:00 AM until time of services.

The family would like to thank Marion Bernard, his housekeeper and his devoted sitters, Kris Lege and Beverly Bordelon. The family would also like to give thanks to Home Health nurse, Ginnette Pommier and Dr. Maurice Sullivan and Staff for their attention and care given to Mr. Prejean during his time of need.

It was Mr. Prejean's wish that his remains be donated to LSU Anatomical Services.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to UL Lafayette Radio Station, P.O. Box 42171, Lafayette, Louisiana 70504, or the charity of your choice.
