OBITUARY, The Sioux City Journal, 21 June 1974, page C8:

Ray Coon, 75, 4437 Grant St., died Thursday at the Leeds Nursing Home after a long illness. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in the Anderson-Perasso Funeral Home. Rev. Anthony Blanders will officiate with burial in Memorial Park Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Earl Pierce, Clifford and Art Coon, Wayne Livermore, Duane Thies and Russell White, Jr.

Mr. Coon was born July 4, 1898, near Anthon, Iowa. He lived in Woodbury County most of his life, moving to Sioux City in 1930. He married Myrtle Scoles May 21, 1921, at Ida Grove, Iowa. He worked for several years as a maintenance man for Woodbury County. He also had a milk route in Sioux City for twenty-three years and worked for the American Popcorn Company for thirteen years before retiring in 1964. Mr. Coon was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church.

Survivors include the widow; a brother Albert of Sioux City; and three sisters, Mrs. Jennie Pierce and Mrs. Iva Hayworth, both of Sioux City and Mrs. Mary Hayworth of Anthon.
