Deceased Name: Allie Mae Sheffield
a former hospital worker and dance studio co-founder, died Thursday.

Mrs. Sheffield, a native and lifelong Mobile resident, was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church. She had been employed with Mobile Infirmary during the 1940s and worked there for more than 10 years.

She founded the Sheffield School of Dance Inc. more than 50 years ago with her daughter, Mary Lou Sheffield Noletto of Mobile. At the dance school, she was known as ''Mama Shef.'' She retired as the school's office manager in 1990.

Her early training was at St. Vincent's School in Mobile.

In addition to her daughter, she is survived by her son, Russell J. Sheffield of Mobile; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled tonight from 5 to 8 at Roche-Belmany-Herrington Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian burial is set for noon Saturday at St. Mary's, with interment in Pine Crest Cemetery.
