WASHBURN, IL - Elnora Mooberry, age 80, of 401 Ninth St., Lacon, formerly of rural Washburn, died at 8:05 p.m. Monday, Jan. 4, 2010, at St. Joseph Nursing Home in Lacon.
She was born June 18, 1929, in Putnam, Ill., a daughter of the late Jefferson and Nellie (Dorff) Davis. She married Alva Mooberry on Nov. 5, 1953, in Bartonville. He preceded her in death on Feb. 10, 2004.
She is survived by three sons, Leslie Mooberry and Jeff Mooberry, both of Wilbern, and Ray (and Tammy) Mooberry of Washburn; three daughters, Vickie (and Flavel) Streitmatter and Cheryl (and Tom) Masterson, both of La Rose, and Debra (and Bruce) Kupferschmid of Eureka; two stepdaughters, Dorothy Paquin of Sun City, Calif., and Roberta Holzenger of Angwin, Calif.; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by five brothers and two sisters.
She was a devoted mother and homemaker, a lover of nature and enjoyed flowers and gardening.
Elnora had suffered with Alzheimer's for five years, and is now at peace.
She was a member of Lacon American Legion Post 593 Auxiliary.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 9, 2010, at Lenz Memorial Home in Lacon, with the Reverend Casey Taylor officiating. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 8, also at Lenz Memorial Home. Interment will follow the funeral services in Fort-Dever Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Central Illinois Chapter of the Alzheimer's Association or Post 593 Auxiliary.
