Born in Brooklyn, June 17, 1895, he was the son of William and Augusta Edwards Shaw. He married the former Gladys Smith in Flushing, L.I., Dec. 23, 1919.
A resident of Woodbourne 47 years, Mr. Shaw was a retired steam fireman at the Woodbourne Correctional Institution, a member of the Reformed Church of Woodbourne, past commander of the Neversink Valley Post 8056, VFW, past president and life member of the Woodbourne fire company and member of the Police Benevolent Association of Fallsburg.
Surviving are one son, William L. of Woodbourne; one daughter, Mrs. Nellie Culligan of Monticello; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 2 from the Reformed Church of Woodbourne, with the Rev. John W. Carter officiating. Burial will be in Hurleyville Cemetery.
A combination American Legion and VFW service will be held at 7:30 tonight and a fire department service at 8 in the Masterson Funeral home, Woodbourne.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 today at the funeral home.
