Ex-Chisox player Ollie Bejma dies
SOUTH BEND Former professional baseball player and South Bend native Aloysius (Ollie) Bejma died today at his home in Shamrock Gardens at the age of 87.
Bejma played for both the St. Louis Browns and the Chicago White Sox during his 14-year career as a utility infielder.
His last four seasons were spent at the minor league level before officially retiring from baseball.
He returned to South Bend, working for Studebaker, the Notre Dame guard force and the Mishawaka License Bureau. Bejma also was an avid bowler and won several local tournaments.

SOUTH BEND Services for Aloysius F. "Ollie" Bejma, 87, of Generations Drive, who died at 5:30 a.m. Tuesday in his home, will be at 10 a.m. Friday in St Hedwig Catholic Church .
Entombment will be in Garden of Love Mausoleum of St. Joseph Cemetery.
Friends may call from 2 to 9 p m. Thursday in St. Joseph Funeral Home, where a combined rosary will he said at 4 p.m. by the parish and Golden Cluster.
Memorial contributions may be made to the church or any charity. - Mr. Bejma, a former professional baseball player who later went on to win several area and state bowling championships, was a former employee of AM General Corp., the Studebaker Corp., the University of Notre Dame security department and the Indiana License Bureau in Mishawaka.
He was born Sept. 12, 1907, in South Bend, and was a lifelong area resident.
On June 4, 1928, in South Bend, he married Clara Kajzer. She survives with two daughters, Mary Ann Grembowicz and Joan Beitier, both of South Bend; a son, John of Naperville, Ill.; 13 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
He was a member of Z.B. Falcons Nest 80, Z.B. Falcons Conservation Club, St. Joseph Young Men's Society, Golden Cluster and Holy Name Society, both of St. Hedwig Catholic Church, and St. Vincent De Paul Society, and a former board member of the St Joseph Funeral Home and Cemetery Association.
He played for the Chicago White Sox in 1939, spent four years in the minors and returned to play semi-pro baseball on a Michigan City team.
