Yvonne E. Berube, 98, a resident of Mount St. Joseph and formerly of Outlet Road, Augusta, died Wednesday, Jan. 13, 2010, at MaineGeneral Medical Center, Thayer Campus, after a stroke she suffered on Jan. 11.
She was born in St. Appoline, Quebec, on Dec. 12, 1911, and was the only survivor of the nine children of the late Elzear and Josephine (Nadeau) Royer. She was a communicant of St. Michael Parish and was a member of the Ladies of St. Anne and Cushnoc Senior Citizens.
Yvonne was predeceased by her husband of 40 years, Henry Berube; two brothers, Joseph and William Royer; and six sisters, Alice LeClair, Melina Feitor, Clara Blouin, Alphonsine Rancourt, Lucielle Douin and Eva Brunelle.
She is survived by three sons, Robert, Gerard and his wife, Bonnie (Cochran), and Lucien and his wife, Mona (Sirois) Berube; and eight grandchildren, Diane Green, Jeannine Spears, Pamela Rines, Lee Berube, Ray Berube, Dan Berube, Dennis Berube and Donna Finley. Yvonne is also survived by 28 great-grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Burial and committal prayers will be held at the old Maine Veterans' Memorial Cemetery, Civic Center Drive, Augusta. (Kennebec Journal 1/15/2010)
