"Mrs. Laura A. Leist, 102, of 9002 Hillcrest Road, Whitelaw, and a resident for the last year of The Wright Home, Manitowoc, died Sunday evening, May 24, 1992, at North Ridge Care Center, Manitowoc.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Saur Funeral Home and 10:30 a.m. at St. Anne Catholic Church, Francis Creek. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. Raymond Schrimpf with burial to follow in the parish cemetery.
The former Laura Petri was born August 27, 1889, in Manitowoc County, daughter of the late Jacob and Erminea Haag Petri II. She attended local schools. On November 8, 1911, she married Bruno Leist at St. Anne Catholic Church, Francis Creek. He preceded her in death June 20, 1928. Mrs. Leist was a live-in housekeeper in the Manitowoc County area for many years. She was a member of St. Anne Catholic Church, the Altar Society, and the Francis Cree, Rockwood Senior Citizens.
Survivors include a daughter-in-law, Agatha Leist of Valders; 11 grandchildren and their spouses, Donald Leist, Dale Leist, Diane Leist, Ann (James) Kramer, Karen (Elroy) Nienhaus, Allen (Barbara) Leist, John (Geraldine) Leist, Robert (Charlotte) Leist, William (Kathy) Leist, Karl (Victoria) Leist, Ann Edward) Smaglik; 16 great grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; 5 great great grandchildren; nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends also survive. She was preceded in death by two sons, Edward and Paul; a daughter-in-law, Blanche; and three brothers.
Friends may call at Saur Funeral Home, Kellnersville, 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. this Tuesday. Parish Prayer Service will be held at 7:30 p.m."
