Anna L. Atkins, 73, formerly of Sumner, Ill., died at 3:55 p.m. Saturday at the Crestview Nursing Home.
She was a former Monroe City resident and a retired nurse.
She was born Oct. 25, 1917, to Earl and Lucille (Hess) VanVleet.
Her husband, Carl Atkins, died in 1989.
Surviving are two daughters, Kae Atkins of Sumner, Ill., and Lorene Lewis of Bridgeport, Ill.; three stepsons, Ben Myers of Columbus, Ohio, and Oneil Myers and Max Atkins of Sumner, Ill.; two brothers, Earl VanVleet, Jr of Vincennes and Max VanVleet of Wheatland; a sister, Virginia "Sally" Hoops of Monroe City; 13 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. A daughter is deceased.
The funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Harris Funeral Home in Monroe City. The Rev. Charles Williams will officiate and burial will be in Walnut Grove Cemetery.
Friends may call from 5 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
