Marjorie M. DeRaedt, 79, of Plato Center, passed away on January 15, 2010 at Provena St. Joseph Hospital, Elgin. She was born on May 30, 1930 in Elgin, IL the daughter of Lawrence and Vernet Judkins. Early in her career, Marjorie had worked at the Elgin National Watch Factory and Illinois Bell. Latter she also had worked at Ackemann's' Department store and lastly Sears Company as a Switchboard Operator. Past member and volunteer at St. Charles Boromeo Church in Hampshire. Survivors include her four children; Linda (Marty) Sliwa of Plato Center, IL; Dezeri J. (Sherri) DeRaedt Jr., of Burlington Township; Stanley (Lori) DeRaedt of Elgin Township, and Jon (Ruth Toppel) of Plato Center, IL. Eight grandchildren, one great-granddaughter. Also her brother, Vern (Judy) Judkins, and two sisters, Rene DeBack and Betty (Jack) Wagner, along with several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Dezeri J. "Spud" DeRaedt Sr. in 2008, and also her two brothers. Visitation will be held on Sunday, January 17, 2010 from 2:00 to 6:00 P.M. at the Laird Funeral Home, 310 South State Street, Elgin IL 60123. Funeral service and burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association .
