Henry Albert Knighten, 90, of Holly Pond, died Friday, January 15, 2010, at Cullman Regional Medical Center.
He was born in Cullman County on May 26, 1919 to Oscar and Emma Fletcher Knighten. He was a veteran of the US Army having served during WWII and retired from Grief Brothers. He was a member of Holly Pond United Methodist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Lucille Gibson Knighten; a grandson, Christopher Paul Knighten; two brothers, William and Ernest Knighten and two half sisters, Pearlie Quick and Callie Martin.
He is survived by five children,Charles H. (Burma Henderson) Knighten, Carole K. (Philip) Vaughn; Bettye (Robert) Baker-Bradford, J. Michael (Sherry Carden) Knighten and Paul A. (Cissy Rosa) Knighten; 10 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Mr. Knighten's grandsons, Lee Baker, Jason Baker, Joseph Knighten, Fritz Vaughn, Billy Vaughn and Jonathan Vaughn.
Arrangements are being handled by Hanceville Funeral Home, 100 Michelle St. NW Hanceville, AL 35077, where the family will receive friends on Sunday, January 17, 2010 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM. The funeral service will be held on Monday, January 18, 2010 at 11:00 AM at Hanceville Funeral Home Chapel with Rich Pastios and Philip Vaughn officiating. Interment with military honors will be in Garden City Cemetery.
