She was a volunteer with Asheville Veterans Administration Medical Center, with a 15,000 hour award. She was a charter member of Ladies Auxiliary of World War Veterans 505, American Legion Auxiliary, No. 2, VFW Post No. 891 Auxiliary, Salvation Army Auxiliary, Women of the Moose Chapter 179, and Groce United Methodist Church.
Surviving are a sister, Alta Benfield of Lenoir; and a brother, Woodfin Banks of Asheville. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Green Hills Cemetery.
