A memorial service for Richard E. Folks Jr., 65, Wright City, Mo., will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Warren-McElwain Mortuary's Eudora Chapel. Inurnment will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery in Lawrence.
Mr. Folks died Friday, Jan. 15, 2010, at his home in Wright City.
He was born Dec. 10, 1944, in Lawrence, the son of Richard Folks Sr. and Elsie Moore.
He was a 1962 graduate of Eudora High School.
He was the owner of Richard Folks Excavating from 1975 to 1987 and worked at R & F Enterprises from 1987 to 2004. In 2004, he became owner of the company and operated it until his death.
He was a member of the American Pool Association and the Motorcycle Riders Club of America. He was an avid St. Louis Cardinals and Kansas University fan.
He married Virginia Moorhead on June 21, 1986, in Lawrence. She preceded him in death.
Survivors include his parents; five sons, Bill, Eudora, Chuck and wife Diane, Lawrence, Bob and wife Jen, Lecompton, Adam and wife Stacy, St. Peters, Mo., and Mike and wife Cinde, St. Peters, Mo.; two sisters, Mary Jane Church, Lawrence, and Janet Gabriel, Eudora; one brother, Larry, Mesquite, Nev.; and 10 grandchildren, Elizabeth, EvanLee, Abbigayle, Graci, Jaxson, Ashleigh, Maelee, Nolan, Lydia, and Madison.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Kenneth.
