Irene B. Tucker - JOHNSON CITY

Irene B. Tucker, age 82, Asbury Place, Johnson City, formerly of 128 Dan Berry Hill Road, Elizabethton, passed away Sunday, January 17, 2010, at the Johnson City Medical Center Hospital following a brief illness.

A native of Carter County, she was a daughter of the late Daniel James and Trula Lowe Berry. She was a member of Caldwell Springs Baptist Church where she was a former member of the choir and was a member of the Willing Worker Sunday School Class. She was a 1945 graduate of Unaka High School and was a member of the Lady Rangers Basketball Team. She was a homemaker and a former employee of the F.B.I. Mrs. Tucker was a lifetime member of Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary and loved the outdoors, gardening and flowers. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, William "Luke" Tucker, January 16, 1991, and a sister, Pearl Dick.

Survivors include two sons and a daughter-in-law, Michael Tucker, Elizabethton, James Tucker and wife, Margie, Wise, VA, three grandchildren, Tracy Faul and husband, Steve, Ft. Stewart, GA, Jonathan Tucker, and Rachel Tucker, both of Wise, VA, three great grandchildren, Jessica Faul, Daniel James Faul, and Jacob Faul, all of Ft. Stewart, GA, five sisters, Katheryn Berry, Marion, VA, Kate Berry, Falls Church, VA, Linda Davis, Fairfax, VA, Edna Eithel and husband, Bill, Newark, DE, Murrell Persick, Silver Spring, MD, one brother, Albert Berry and wife, Margaret Ann, Jonesborough. Several nieces and nephews and great nieces and great nephews also survive.

The funeral service for Mrs. Tucker will be conducted at 7 p.m. Wednesday, January 20, 2010, in the Chapel of Peace at Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton, with Dr. Bill Duncan officiating. Music will be under the direction of Dale Williams, soloist. The family will receive friends in the funeral home chapel on Wednesday from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. prior to the service hour.

The graveside service and interment will be conducted at 10 a.m. Thursday, January 21, 2010, at Caldwell Springs Baptist Church Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be selected from family members. Those who to attend the graveside service are ask to meet the funeral home on Thursday, at 9:15 a.m. to go in procession to the cemetery.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the Staff at Asbury Place for all the love and care extended to Mrs. Tucker.
