Family Tribute
Nathaniel Micheal "Nate" Jones
Nathaniel Micheal "Nate" Jones of Springfield, Oregon died January 14, 2010.
He was born July 1, 1986 in Springfield to Micheal and Debra (Boss) Jones.
He graduated from Springfield High School in 2004 where he lettered in Football.
He joined the United States Marine Corp in November, 2007 and honorably served his country until his death.
Commonly known to family and friends as "Nate", he was both generous and outgoing. His concerns were always centered around his family and friends and nothing would keep him from jumping in to help, even when he wasn't asked. If he saw a need, he tried to fill it. He had many passions, which included camping, fishing, hunting, and driving too fast. He loved working out at the gym and telling everyone how "buff" he was. Exaggeration was not an uncommon trait for Nate nor was his confidence in the fact that he was always partially right! His mechanic skills were top rate, if you asked him, but he always gave it 110 percent. Nate liked to laugh and keep those around him laughing. He was a generous, warm, caring and loving son, brother and friend.
Survivors include his parents; his grandmother, Mayme Jones; and brother, Tucker R.V. Jones of Springfield.
A funeral with Military Honors for Nate will be Saturday, January 23 at 1:00pm at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Eugene, with burial to follow at Oakhill Cemetery. A celebration of life and potluck will follow at 3:00pm at VFW Hall in Springfield.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Springfield High School Athletic Dept. c/o Major Family Funeral Home, 112 A St., Springfield, OR 97477.
