Arthur was the son of Herman GENTZ and Martha KIPFMILLER. He married Helen M. TOMASZEWSKI on 10 June 1944, at Saint Joseph Catholic Church, in Manistee.

Art had been employed most of his life as a master plumber at JUSTMANN Plumbing and Heating Company, in Manistee, until his retirement. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and loved his flower gardening and growing vegetables, having raised "Gold Ribbon" tomatoes.
He was a member of Saint Joseph Catholic Church, in Onekama.
