Obituary--
Dorothy Elizabeth Cunningham Poe, daughter of Thomas Robert Cunningham and Rena Grace Puls Cunningham was born on a farm near Rutledge, Missouri on October 18, 1907 and passed away in her home October 20, 1979 at the age of 72 years and two days.

She was united in marriage to Eugene Poe February 9, 1927. To this union was born two sons, Robert Edgar Poe and Billy Eugene Poe, both of Downing. She was preceded in death by her twin sister at the time of their birth and her parents. She is survived by her husband, Eugene, son Bob and wife Jane, son Bill and wife, Treva, of Downing; grandchildren Tara Rouse and husband Ron of Kirksville, Robin Steggall of Kirksville, Garry Poe and wife Brenda, Lisa Poe, Bruce Poe, Lori Poe, and Garen Poe all of Downing; two great grandchildren, Tacy and Tanya, a sister Fern Myers of Downing; and one nephew Inual Myers and wife Helen, Marion, Indiana, and other relatives and many friends.

She received her elementary education near Rutledge and attended the Memphis High School. She became a member of the Methodist Church at an early age and later moved her membership to the Downing United Methodist Church where she took an active part in all church activities. She was a dedicated member of the Ariel Rebekah Lodge, No 752, for over 50 years.

Dorothy was a loving wife and mother and adoring grandmother and was tireless in her efforts on their behalf. Her thoughtfulness and her care and concern enriched the lives of her family and many others.

Funeral services were conducted by Norman Funeral Home at the United Methodist Church, Downing, Missouri, Monday, October 22, 1979 at 2:00 p.m. with the Reverend Neil Dubach officiating. Soloist was Joyce Potts, and pianist was Betty Drummond. Body bearers were Dale Poe, Quentin Lewis, W. O. Poe, Gilbert Schmitter, Allen Woodruff and Jim Wray. Interment was in the Downing Cemetery.
