Notes for Oliver Horace Perry Carr:
The following information on Oliver Horace Perry Carr comes from the book entitled, "Carroll County Families: These Were The First, Carroll County, Arkansas," by Jim Lair, 1990. The information in it was provided from the research of Gene Norris and Jean Smith:
Oliver Horace Perry Carr was born January 28, 1819, in the State of Virginia, as a son of Silas Addison and Martha (Martin) Carr. Perry moved into Tennessee with his faily during 1825, and he was educated there. Then, around 1840, he moved into Carroll County, Arkansas, to settle near Carrollton. He was united in marriage with Emily Dunlap around 1842. Emily had been born circa 1825, as a daughter of Jonathan and Anna (Sears) Dunlap.
After their emigration into Carroll County, the Carr family lived east of Green Forest, Arkansas for several years, however they did move to Stewart's Bend, on the Kings River, north of Berryville.*
(*Perry was working as a saddler in Carrollton when he married Emily Dunlap. A few years later, he gave up saddling and became a farmer, moving the family to Scott's Prairie (now Green Forest). His younger brother, William Andrew Carr, was living near the Berryville settlement. According to family heritage, Perry could not handle the drink and was often violent with his children. His oldest son ran away from home to join the Confederate Army to spite Perry who was a firm Union man. When his next son, James K., went away and joined the Union Army, Perry followed. He rode a white horse which he called "Pompy." Perry also moved his family to the settlement of Cape Fair on the James River. Here, he established a grist mill.)
Ten children were born to the union of Oliver Horace Perry and Emily (Dunlap) Carr, and those children were as follows:
Christopher Columbus Carr, who was born circa 1843, in Carroll County, Arkansas, and died January 17, 1863, in Little Rock, Arkansas, as a member of Company B, of the 27th Arkansas Infantry, C.S.A.; James Knox Polk Carr, who was born September 22, 1845, and died January 27, 1924; Mary Christania Carr, who was born December 17, 1847, and died March 13, 1920; Lucy Elizabeth Carr, who was born November 8, 1849, and died March 6, 1925; William Carr, who was born during 1853, and died circa 1879; Silas Carr, who was born during 1857, and died circa 1870; Nancy Ann Carr, who was born May 1, 1861, and died April 24, 1940; Perry Oliver "Bud" Carr, who was born February 14, 1864, and died December 13, 1939; Emily "Babe" Carr, who was born February 14, 1864--as a twin to Perry Oliver Carr--and died during 1881; and John Clinton Carr, who was born June 1, 1867, and died May 24, 1950.
This family also left Carroll County and the violence of the Civil War. The twins, Perry Oliver "Bud" and Emily "Babe" Carr, were born while they were living near Cape Fair, Missouri, in Stone County.
Emily (Dunlap) Carr died circa 1868, and she was interred in the Carr Cemetery, on Stewart's Bend of the King's River. A Year later, circa 1869, Oliver Horace Perry Carr was united in marriage with Martha E. Dotson. Three children were born to their marital union, and those children were as follows:
Alice "Allie" Carr, who was born during 1878; Albert Carr, who was born circa 1881, and died during 1917; and Belvie M. (Beverly) Carr, who was born October 12, 1886, and died April 23, 1953.
Oliver Horace Perry Carr departed this life July 21, 1895, and he was interred in the Carr Cemetery. His second wife, Martha E. (Dotson) Carr, died circa 1917, and she is also buried in the Carr Cemetery.

"O. H. P. Carr died at his residence 10 miles north of Berryville last Sunday and was
burried the next day. Mr. Carr came to this country from Tennessee at an early day. At the
time of his death he was 76 years old.--Progress"--The Green Forest Tribune, Thursday,
