Married Bertha Wolf January 15, 1890 in Johnson County, Missouri.

Brother to Hannah Jane (Jennie) Coy Sharpnack and Ada Idella Coy Mason/Finnell.

Ambrose was a farmer and a long-standing member of the Holden Baptist Church.

Obituary:
Ambrose E. C. Coy died Saturday at the home of his daughter in Independence, after an extended illness, a portion of which was passed in a hospital. The funeral was held Monday afternoon, services in the Baptist church conducted by Rev. W. M. Martin, assisted by Rev. Earl Harding. The church choir with Mrs. Will Kirk as pianist sang "Its is Well," "Shall We Gather at the River" and "The Sweet Bye and Bye." Interment in Holden cemetery; pall bearers, C.L.Strange. C.H. Skerlock. George Reuter, J.M. Copenhaver, W.S. Dille and John Lycan.

Decedent, son of Simon S. and Syble Moore Coy, was born in Mahoning County, Ohio, June 17, 1866. His mother died when he was eight years old and four years later he came with his father and two sisters to this county, locating on the farm southwest of Holden on which he lived the remaining six decades of his life.

On January 15, 1890, he married Bertha Wolf, and to them were born eight children: Charles William, Lyman Nebraska; Henry Everett, died in infancy; Esther (Mrs. S. L.) Hale, Independence; Ira D., Kansas City; Syble (Mrs. I.A.) Mertell, Independence; Anna (Mrs. O. R.) Hightower, St. Louis; Ernest M. Weslaco Texas; and Bertha Jane (Mrs. Glenn) Simmermon, Holden.

At the age of eighteen he united with the Baptist church of Holden to which he gave loyal service to the last day of his physical ability. He was a deacon for twenty years and treasurer seventeen years. The editor remembers him as man who had the same religion through the week as on Sunday.
