William Moffitt
1916-2005

Mr. William Dale Moffitt, 88, of Ada Street, New Carlisle, died Thursday, June 2, 2005, at his home.

He was born Oct. 31, 1916, in Rolling Prairie to Elmer and Clara (Hooton) Moffitt.

Mr. Moffitt retired in 1981 from Torrington Corp. in South Bend after 42 years of service. He was a member of New Carlisle Community Church.

On June 26, 1937, he married Wahneta May, who survives.

Also surviving are one daughter, Nancy A. (Patrick) Hurley of Granger, Ind.; one son, Charles (Sharon) of New Carlisle; five grandchildren, James and Christopher Moffitt, Cassandra Smith, Melissa Ryder, and Patrick Hurley Jr.; 11 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; one sister, Mary Alice Horn of Hollywood, Fla.; and one brother, Robert of New Carlisle.

He was preceded in death by his parents; four sisters, Helen Wykoff, Thelma Reiley, Lois Rodgers and Carol Bates; and five brothers, Richard, Eston, George, Gene and Randall.

The funeral will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Kaniewski Funeral Home, New Carlisle. Friends may call Sunday from 4 to 8 p.m. and Monday from 10 a.m. until the service. Burial will be in Olive Chapel Cemetery, New Carlisle.
