He was born August 9, 1916 in Campbell County, Tennessee to the late Charles and Nora Emery Adkins. Ulis was a member of the Oak Grove Baptist church.
He was a US Army Veteran of WWII. Ulis loved reading his bible and spending time with his family.
He is preceded in death by his parents; sons, Jerry Adkins, Jeffery Adkins and Jimmy Adkins; sisters, Pearl Webber and Alice Shultz; brothers, Olis Adkins and Russell Adkins.
Survivors wife of 64 years, Lola Vowell Adkins, Lake City, TN; son, Johnny Adkins & wife Lois, Lake City, TN; daughters, Sharon Morgan & husband Roy, Lebanon, TN, Shelia Edwards, Knoxville, TN; daughter-in-law, Linda Adkins, Lake City, TN; sister, Naomi Roddy, Lake City, TN; 8 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren;
1 great great grandson; special friends, G.B. and Dorothy Carden, Judy Daugherty and Patricia Vickers; several nieces, nephews and many hriends.
Visitation 6-8:00 pm Friday, April 2, 2004 at the Hatmaker Funeral Home. Funeral service 2:00 pm Saturday, April 3, 2004 in the Hatmaker Funeral Home Chapel with John Tyler Adkins and Rev. David Crowley officiating. Interment will follow the funeral service at the Oak Grove Cemetery in Lake City, TN
