Editha Davies was born in 1826 in Kentucky, the child of John N. Davies and Elizabeth Hughes and the granddaughter of Nicholas Clayton Davies and Elizabeth Crawford. Her maternal grandparents were John Neville Hughes (lieutenant in the Revolutionary War and Major in the War of 1812) and Ann Meriwether.

Editha was supposedly married 3 times - first to a Mr. Cooper and then about 1850 to Adam Craig. She was a widow in 1860 living with her younger brother, John Hughes Davies, and her young son, Lewis Nicholas Craig. Editha married Jesse Cook in 1861 becoming the stepmother of his 5 children: Frances, Mary, Celia, Jesse, and Marion. Editha and Jesse had Mary Jane and Robert.

Editha's youngest brother, John Hughes Davies, married her stepdaughter, Celia Eliza Cook, in 1865. This brother wrote family biographies going back to ancestors in Virginia which can be seen at http://daviesofpebbleton.org/

Editha died in 1884 and is buried in the Locust Grove Graveyard southwest of the Zion Methodist Church in Hickman County Kentucky. I would love for someone to find her marker and hopefully find info on Jesse Cook in the same graveyard.
