Wilbur Couch

LANCASTER -- Mr. Wilbur Emerson Couch, 82, died Saturday, Sept. 2, 2006, at the Lancaster Convalescent Center.

The funeral will be 4 p.m. Wednesday at Hopewell United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Steve Patterson officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery.

A native of Lancaster, Mr. Couch was a son of the late Grover Cleveland Couch and Emmie Lorena Shehane Couch. He was a retired homebuilder, was a member of Hopewell United Methodist Church and was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. He was the husband of the late Ernestine Blackmon Couch.

Surviving are two sons, Emerson Couch and Robert Couch, both of Lancaster; his daughter, Barbara Couch Dickson of Cheraw; his brother, David Couch of Heath Springs; three sisters, Betty Cauthen of Heath Springs, Della Adams of Rock Hill and Marie Phillips of Kershaw; and three grandchildren.

The family will receive friends after the service at the church fellowship hall and other times at home, 2044 New Cut Church Road.

Memorials may be made to the Hopewell United Methodist Church, building fund, 3734 Heyward Hough Road, Lancaster, SC 29720 or to Hospice & Community Care, P.O. Box 993, Rock Hill, SC 29731.
