A well known actress of the 50s and 60s June Thorburnwas born Patricia June Thubron Smith to a British Officer stationed in Karachi, India. On returning to England she spent the rest of her short life making over 30 films including television series,cinema and radio work. She will probably be best remembered playing the forest queen in "Tom Thumb" 1958
She was returning to England from Spain when her flight crashed into the southern slopes of Blackdown Hill, near Fernhurst village. She was six months pregnant at the time.
