STURGEON, May 25 [1956] -- David Hayden Roberts, 79, life-long resident of Boone county, died at 11:45 o'clock yesterday morning at his home here after a short illness.

Mr. Roberts was born near Sturgeon on March 18, 1877, the son of William S. and Frances McBride Roberts. He was married February 2, 1901, to Alice Roberts, who preceded him in death February 24, 1932. Mr. Roberts was then married to Lena Trusty who survives him.

He is also survived by two daughters, Mrs. Vernon Pinkerton, 108 North Glenwood Avenue, Columbia, and Mrs. Roy Willard, Sterling, Colo.; two sons, Ray Roberts, Highway 40 East, Columbia, and Roy S. Roberts, Lafayette, Colo.; two brothers, Aubrey E. Roberts and Woodson Roberts, both of here; eight grand-children and one great-grand-daughter.

Funeral services will be at 2 o'clock tomorrow afternoon at the Sturgeon Baptist church, the Rev. Monroe Hopkins officiating. Burial will be in the Mount Horeb cemetery. The body will remain at Meador's Funeral home until time of service.

NOTES--(Irene Faye, daughter) "Dad lived in Missouri all his life. He told me he only left once, and that he promised God if He would take him safely home, he would never leave Missouri again. He spent his life in and near Sturgeon, Missouri. A farmer and section boss on the railroad, promoted to Railroad Inspector, he rode the train over WABASH tracks from Sturgeon, Missouri, to Chicago, Illinois, for years for $250 per month."
