Jerry Clayton, 62, Jones, Oklahoma passed away Sunday, March 16, 2003. He was born in Holdenville to Glen R and
Mildred Abel on December 18, 1940. He moved to Jones, in 1947 and graduated from Jones high school in 1958. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Jones. He was a member of Jones Masonic Lodge #537 and Guthrie Scottish Rite Consistry. He worked 31 1/2 years for OG&E until his retirement in 1991. He served in the 45th division in the Oklahoma National Guard. In 1977 he received an award from the Edison Electric Institute for saving the life of a coworker.
He is survived by his wife Patsy Able of the home; three sons: Jerry Jr. of Calumet, Ok. Glen of Houston Texas and Robert Dallas Texas; one sister; Glenna Walker and her husband John of Plano; one brother Hal Abel and his wife Jean of Choctaw,Ok. One niece and three nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father Glenn Abel and mother Mildred Abel. His wonderful smile and sense of humor will be missed by all.
Services will be at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, March 19, 2003 at the First Baptist Church of Jones.
Interment at Jones IOOF Cemetery, Jones Oklahoma.
